Hurley BackpacksHurley International got its start in 1979 by Bob Hurley (who was only 23 at the time). The company is very similar to companies like Billabong and Volcom. Athletes involved in surfing, skateboarding, and motocross represents the Hurley brand. The company logo is an H where to two vertical lines of the letter slope outwards and the middle (horizontal line of the letter) is absent. The company sells clothing as well as accessories. On the list of accessories they have shoes, hand bags, belts, wallets, and one of their top sellers is their Hurley Backpacks collection. The Hurley Backpacks come in eleven different amazing colors. The Hurley Backpacks also come in three different options for material. The consumer may choose from a nylon, canvas, or leather. If you like the Hurley style, but are on a budget I would recommend purchasing a nylon or canvas bag over the leather backpacks because the leather is a little bit more expensive material. Also the Hurley backpacks can come in three different features and those are travel, print or mesh. The travel bag is very convenient and they tend to call it the convertible. It transforms from a backpack to a duffel bag (which is very nice and unique) and it is only $97 dollars. The print bags are pretty self explanatory- (they come in a variety of prints) and the mesh bags are simply lighter weight. The Hurley backpacks usually sell at a price around $40 dollars which is very similar to the competitor prices. The Hurley backpacks also serve as multifunctional purposes. They are perfect for students attending both high school as well as college who need to transport books to and from school. The Hurley backpacks are also big enough and sturdy enough to carry lap tops and or skateboards, and at the same time they have very attractive appearances. Out of all of the Hurley backpacks my personal favorite is the One and Only Wet/Dry Backpack. It comes in only one color unfortunately, but the color goes with everything and anything, it comes in black. It may be a little bit more money than then average backpacks, but it’s because this one has a few extras that other bags do not. It costs $66 dollars and is perfect for beach days. The material the bag is made out of dries at a way faster pace than other materials which is very convenient for surfers and beach lovers alike. Plus it even comes with a good sized mat for you to step on a dry surface when your changing.
The Hurley backpacks for girls are no different in price than the Hurley backpacks for guys, as I have already stated they both run on average at about $40 dollars give or take. The Hurley backpacks for girls come in plaid, bright colors, and floral prints. The Hurley backpacks for guys also come in the plaid and the bright neon colors (which are very in this season). However, the boy’s bags do not come in the floral prints. If you are a boy and enjoy the floral prints, you will have to make a purchase from the girl’s bags.
The neat thing about a hurley backpack is that most come with adjustable padded straps to help accommodate each and every consumer. The straps are wider and a tad thicker to be less painful for those who have a heavy load to carry. Also their Honor roll hurely backpack is perfect for skaters because they come with a slot to put your media device and a cord feed slit on the outside of the bag. Hurley has executed many great marketing ideas. They have studied their target market perfectly and discovered most athletes enjoy listening to music to get them in the zone, so to incorporate accessories for the athlete consumers, it was genius. The Foundation hurely backpack is just a plain bag (but comes in an assortment of colors) and the bags even come with matching wallets you can purchase for only $12 dollars if you’re the type of person that needs to match everything accordingly.
So to sum up the Hurley brand I would say it is a very sporty meets the 1980’s. The company used great strategies to overcome company obstacles. They had famous athletes and musicians wearing Hurley clothing and people who looked up to these amazing athletes and musicians wanted to be like their idols so much that they went out and purchased the clothes they saw their idols wearing. They have extended their line from just clothes to much, much, much more and it’s crazy to think a 23 year old from California started the business. I guess it goes to show you that anyone at any age can make something happen with a little drive and ambition.
